Description: Community-based full immersion Tongan service with a maximum of 36 children from 1-5 years. Morning tea and afternoon tea provided. Akoteu Vaevae Manava in Kelston, West Auckland was established in 2005 to promote Tongan children’s knowledge of their Tongan language, culture and identity. The centre provides education and care for children from birth to school age. It is governed by the Vaevae Manava Tongan Community Trust which has strong connections with the local Tongan community. All children at the centre have Tongan heritage. The Trust provides the policy framework and financial management for the centre.
